Laurie S. Sherman is a playwright, novelist, poet, director, performer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between page and stage.
Her writing explores memory, identity, women’s lives, resilience, rupture, and the ways people rebuild meaning after difficult experience. She has published multiple books, written extensively for performance, directed theatrical work, and developed projects combining literature, theatre, ritual, visual elements, and audience engagement.
Her background includes study in creative writing, communication, theatre, and ancient forms of storytelling, along with teaching and professional work in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Her current project, Talus, is a forthcoming novel about Nell Platon, a structural engineer; her husband Daniel, a composer; and their children, Theo and Mira. It considers what a family inherits when a life is organized around the weather of Daniel’s mind.
This stage of Laurie’s work reflects a long artistic practice centered on voice, transformation, and the human need to make meaning from what has been broken. Her projects connect women’s lives, scapegoating and return, presence and memory, and the ongoing practice of becoming.
